Reporter Samantha Hayes presented Single of the Year, which went to....(please not op shop)....Argh! For "One Day". Check it out over in the NZ thread. Nice, but its not that great. Well it is, but I'm sick of it. And I wanted Liam Finn or the Phoenix Foundation to win it.

Next Album of the Year. Say it with me now- Flight of the Conchords! 'Nother vid: They're in the Nz consulate, Jemaine kinda dressed like Murray and typing on the computer. Bret is on the phone to his mum, saying "Guess what? We've won 3 NZ music awards." *Hand from under desk places another one on the desk*

Jemaine: Bret..Bret, look.
Bret: Oh...oh wait now its four...Turn on the tv....I don't know what channel...no its the bottom left button...Look, I don't know...(or something to that effect)
Jemaine: *picks up award*Album of the year. *Puts it down* I don't agree with that one....I'm not accepting that. *Goes back to typing*

Man, John Campbell (our Larry King, kinda) seems bit off his nut. Swearing a bit, insulting the audience in front of him where all the industry-types are sitting. Saying they're all just there smoozing and hoping to get a root later on   Indicated to the left to let them know where the drugs and condoms are located. Really, I'm shocked. Not the kind of things you expect out of his mouth. Too much champagne perhaps?

Now the Legacy Award to the Straight Jacket Fits, with a video tribute. Wow, I never knew they did that well around the place! Oh god, now Campbell is hugging everyone. Now a reaaalllly long speech. Guess its allowed though, they are legends after all.

Add: It looks like in the 2nd video that Bret is wearing the same shirt as Jemaine under his penguin shirt. Wonder what that is all about...

I love that they obviously took a bit of time out of what must be an exhausting schedule to put that kind of effort into these videos. I mean if you think about it, it's not the emmys. It's little ol' NZ Music shindig and it would've been easy to just get someone to accept it on their behalf, or do just a basic prerecorded "thankyou".

I think that it's lovely that these awards obviously meant something to them and they don't consider themselves "too big"for our lowly awards.

*Sigh* Just another reason to love them even more

(Did anybody else notice the sitting-on-lap-typing in the background of Mad Men this week? LOL@ the crazy inappropriate working environment of the 60's- I love the clothes and decorating style, but thank God things have changed a bit since then.   )
