[size=100:fyjwuuga]Eric Idle has revealed he is a fan of Flight Of The Conchords.

The Monty Python star, who admits he doesn't watch sitcoms, enjoys the New Zealand duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, and agreed they were right to bow out after two seasons.

"
That was rather brave of them but they were right - I thought they had done everything;
they hadn't done everything musically, but they had done everything in their sitcom world,"
he said.

"
I went to see a live concert of theirs and they're very good in concert, they're very funny. Their music is wonderful."


Eric, whose show Not The Messiah (He's A Very Naughty Boy) will be shown in cinemas later this month, reckons comedians shouldn't keep churning out series after series, in an attempt to make a show last.

"
I think a low number is one of the best ways to encourage quality, not making thousands of them. I was a bit disappointed with the second series of Flight Of The Conchords because you've seen everything really,"
he said.

"
That's the trouble with sitcoms. You tend to see the same joke again week after week."

Morrissey. The lingering touch of the frosty fingers of Steven Patrick are in every word that I utter. The Flight of the Conchords, too. The songs they write are such good songs that you almost realize later on that they're a little bit silly. Jack Black and Kyle Gass from Tenacious D were also important for me. But hold on a moment. What were we talking about? What am I supposed to be promoting?
