Hehe. . I'd love to see a scene where the guys get a request to play Danger Zone and Bret starts in, but Jemaine just stares at him confused and not knowing what to do 'cause he's never seen Top Gun. XD

I found this at about 4 am while looking at new wave music videos on youtube.

[flash=350,287:cb8qvxmu]https://www.youtube.com/v/1llNSdf9cl4&hl=en&fs=1[/flash:cb8qvxmu]

it's the same exact setup and costumes and everything... I thought it was pretty amusing. <img src=" title="Very Happy" border="0"/>

I like how more than a year later we can still find stuff like this Smile

Awesome find!

That video kind of creeps me out. It has the same sort of feel as Manos: Hands of Fate. Low-budget in a dark, creepy, bad way.

Was this a popular song in 1977? I wonder how they knew about it.

It's possible they were just searching for space-related videos on youtube. [image]

But between the three of them, maybe at least one of them knew about it. [image]

After I posted this message I read some of the youtube comments and apparently the song went to number two on the UK charts when it was released.

James has talked about how he and the guys share the same sensibility because UK and NZ culture are similar. I think that really comes through in the videos they parody. A lot of them are from acts that were more famous in the UK than in America.

no no, sorry to confuse. that particular song isn't about lotr, but led zeppelin did a bunch of songs about lotr, most notably "
ramble on."
check it out:

Misty Mountain Hop and Battle of Evermore are totally LOTR Zep songs.

I am still guffawing about the Devil Woman cop in Demon Woman. I like how the most chaste singer on earth inspired a parody that pretty much makes my eyes sweat.

Really, "
Most Beautiful Girl"
was inspired by Beck? I was thinking more early Prince, but maybe I should give Beck another shot.

That Space video is awesome, never knew about that track!

And, now that I think about it, the Rube Goldberg Bret stand in in "
Bret Gives Up The Dream"
is awfully reminiscent of Herbie Hancock's "
Rockit"
.

If you listen to Beck's 'Debra' and 'Most Beautiful Girl' they're so alike it's crazy. I could write an entire essay on how alike they are,but I'm far too lazy.
