i'm kinda shy about my first question, because it seems so nerdly, but it's honestly one of the first things i want to know about a person...

1) what/who is your favor(U)rite novel and/or writer?

also

2) how did you manage to maintain faith in yourselves and in your work during those tough years when your work wasn't receiving the appreciation it deserved? what kept you going?

I really like those questions! <img src=" title="Very Happy" border="0"/>

I'd especially like to know their answer to the second one. I've never thought about that before, but now I'm really curious!

1. If you could choose one, what was the funniest moment of your tours?

2. What was the most shocking moment?

I'd have to second the questions about their musical preferences, what motivates them towards doing their work even when it gets tough, if they ever 'find each other difficult to work with and why', about their ideas that never got turned into songs... I especially want to know which bits of their characters on the show are real and which ones aren't. Not all of them, of course, 'cause that'd kill the... mystique. [image]

On the subject of the Jesus joke, I do tend to like them better because they don't hit those issues, oddly enough-- because my (other) favorite comedian is Eddie Izzard. He comments a LOT about religion and politics, but then, he takes it in a totally different direction than usual-- subtle jibes and silly speculation, not mockery.
I think it would be okay... if they DID turn in that direction but it definitely wouldn't be the same, and it's not really like them at all.
I admire them so much for staying away from those jokes, not because of a possible fear of offending people, but because I know that whatever comedian or parody band I find, I'll always come back to them. It's as though they are so full of good intent and and optimistic enjoyment of life that there's very little room for the anger, mocking and obscenities that so many tend towards.
Some people say they're juvenile. For what, being silly? If I never acted silly, I'd be a humorless, lifeless person, and most likely very depressed. Not having any 'bite' in their jokes? Insulting everyone and their mother does not equate to top-notch comedy.
That is not all I have to say, but I'm sure you refer I rant/gush/rant and gush someplace else. [image]

But on that note, I have a question(ish) for them, myself: "
Do you specifically try to focus on certain topics for jokes, or is it an impulsive thing? How do you feel about where you have gone/are going with the parodies you make(as far as cultural and musical references), and which genres of humor do you like the most?"

I don't know if I'd be interested in finding out their religious/political beliefs. That's definitely a conflicting idea for me, but I get the sense that Americans take themselves too seriously as far as these issues go (and in general, really), so that might just be me being angry about dinosaurs with saddles as a serious subject. I think it's a good idea that they haven't revealed anything about their beliefs... again, it goes with the good intent idea, and being open-minded.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I flat-out end conversations when things turn political. I won't discuss it, because I was brought up to think it's rude. Religion, though... It's all kind of speculation, none of us know what goes on with the rest of the universe, so I don't know why people get so wrapped up in that, either.

Also, I love Eddie Izzard, too. I wish my GPS had one of those programs where you can download his voice to give you directions, but it's not the right brand. Seriously, how awesome would that be?

I've been looking for perfume for myself recently (Armani "
Code"
has won [image] ) and I came up with two questions:

1. Jemaine, what perfume are you wearing?
(I wouldn't mind if it's Lancome "
Hypnose"

2. And you, Bret?

Actually, I wanted to ask this question that apparently one interviewer asked them in 2006 and got the answer:

[size=100:r22jzvpo]How would you compare the different types of audiences you've played for, American, New Zealand, UK, and Edinburgh?

[image] They're surprisingly similar. A lot of people think that some material will work in one country and not the other, but if people find it funny in New Zealand they'll find it funny in Britain and America. The only difference is that audiences tend to be a lot more vocal in America.

[image] People from New Zealand love to say, "
Americans won't get it, will they?"
Sometimes when we play in New Zealand we'll do art festivals rather than comedy gigs. They're sort of highbrow and different from what we want to do, but people in those crowds are actually the worst sort of comedy crowds. They can't tell if we're joking. We'll make a joke, but we'll say it in such a way that it sounds like we mean it and we'll often hear a, "
Yeah, right."

So maybe my question is "
Do you feel the same after these four years and changes that has happened during this time?"

My second question would be about their preferences but I guess it depends from their mood etc. I don't think I'd like to hear their answer. [image]

Are there any old projects that you would like to still make them, like this one?

[size=100:7c6cd5o0]Do you have any plans to return to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh?
[image] There's a show that Brett and I are working on using film and cameras. I'd like to take that to the Edinburgh one day, but it's really expensive and has a lot of people involved. Maybe, if we wrote enough new songs or did a different sort of project.
(same source ^^)

btw. I [image] your mockumentaries (The Living Room, Texan Odyssey...)
