FOTC: The Video Games!

Last year, as a joke, I combined two of my favorite things, Flight of the Conchords and retro video games and made this little poster.



Everyone loved it so much that I used my limited programming skills and actually made the game. It's loosely based on the first season of the HBO show, and has a lot of inside jokes than only true fans would get. It took 9 days to make but it was totally worth it.



So far, it's been downloaded over 2,000 times! Wow! Now, earlier this year, as the second season was airing, I made a sequel. (There was a lot of demand. ) This game took almost two months to complete!



The second game is obviously based on the second season of the show, and there's a lot more to do in the game. You can collect secret items (like Mel's painting, or a Garfunkel wig), visit Dave's shop, even fly to New Zealand!



I'd love to hear everyone's comments on the games! Just click on the link in my signature to download them. You'll also find level maps, hints, and even a YouTube gameplay video you can check out! Yeah, I've discovered that most FOTC fans are terrible gamers. Who knew?

Yeah ... I'm definitely not a video game player.


But I think your FotC games are adorable. I especially like the music you used.

I'm an old school gamer (atari, nintendo, snes, and even a bit in sega). I'm more of a platform gamer (Mario Brothers) than I am RPG or anything else really.

I have these games downloaded on my computer but I haven't played them yet *shame*

I'm too afraid of being stuck on the first level and having to re-evaluate my entire existence thus far.

Don't worry, Kelly - in the first game you can push Q to skip levels, and in the second game you can choose different levels from the map screen. If you're an old-school gamer (as I am) these games are very easy to get into.

Then I will play them as soon as this semester is over (after next week). That way if I get addicted my school work doesn't suffer ;
)

Do you know if Bret and Jemaine have ever seen this? I would love to know what they had to say about it! It is one of the most ambitious (and delightful) pieces of fan art I've come across.

I'm planning on giving them a copy of the game and having them sign a mini game poster. If they've seen it already I'd be shocked.

You guys will NOT believe what the guys said about the video game when they met Michael last night it is...SO awesome...just so great I don't want to tell if Michael wants to tell - so I'll leave it up to him. But it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside when I think about it...
