[size=150:vlvbgsdp]WE DID IT.
Quilts have been passed on to their rightful homes: in the arms of Bret and Jemaine.
A very big thanks and round of applause for Jessica and her support, Katie. Bear hugs to all Flighties representing quilt square designers. And, of course, a grand roaring cheer for every single one of you who made this happen with your creatively awesome craft.

HERE IS THE EPIC FOOTAGE THAT IS SO EPIC YOUR BRAIN WILL IMPLODE AND THEN THE IMPLODED DEBRIS WILL EXPLODE!
You have been warned.

Brought to you by Nikki! [image]

Sources and tips located at end of post

Remember, this project requires commitment. Your piece is as essential as the next.
--------

So I've been mulling around, thinking about something to make to give to the guys (because giving them homemade stuff is awesome) when I had this idea:

Why doesn't the entire board work together and make something?
And so I thought some more on how that is physically impossible on some parts but... BUT!

[image]

Why don't we make quilts?! That way, they'd have a piece of us forever and ever? I do not know how to put together a quilt, but I have designed a square for a similar project back in high school.

Basically, we each get a piece of fabric the correct measurements and decorate them with colored pieces of fabric in anyway we please, even use fabric markers to write messages and such. Each guy would get one, which would have each participating Flighty make a minimum of 2 squares (more if needed for size of quilt).

If we get it done before the last shows (LA or Berkley, whichever is better logistically and/or has more Flighties present), I think it would be an amazing show of gratitude.

Now, for the putting together part... as much as I would LOVE to learn how to make a quilt, I would be too afraid to mess it up. Does anyone know this craft or know anyone who does?
As an incentive, I will be willing to gift the brave quilter a little sumthin' sumthin'.

What do you think guys? eh? EH?

K. back to writing an essay.

Yeah, but who would actually get to use the quilt, I wonder. Bret or Jemaine?

[size=75:fl029cip]..maybe they could share it?

thats why we make 2, one for each, hence the making of two squares minimum. [image]

I was thinking of something to make the guys too....
This is a great IDEA!

I have never made a quilt before but unless there is someone else who knows how I can volunteer to sew the squares together.

I've never made one either, but like Irene, I can do it. Sewing isn't new to me, but quiltmaking is.

If no one else steps up, maybe I could do one and Irene could do the other?

ADD: I'm a quick study.

Oh. Somehow I completely missed the fact that there would be more than one. <img src=" title="Razz" border="0"/>

Funds for the batting (stuffing).

Hmm. I really don't know how much that goes for, but I think when we send the quilter the squares, a donation would be recommended. I wouldn't mind buying the stuff for the quilter, quite honestly.

It probably wouldn't be too much, I have no idea though.

Maybe everyone sending squares could also send a couple bucks? I'm sure it wouldn't take much more than that.

It all depends on the size and thickness of it. I bought a bunch of quilt stuff a few months ago to make one (er, have Rachel help me make one) for my incoming niece. I think the fabric ended up being more...

Oh yeah, we'd also need to buy some fabric for the back of the quilts as well as for the edges around them...

OMFG YES! Oh man, if she's willing, I will totally compensate her for her hard work.

IF she agrees, we can get all the technical stuff and set up deadlines and guidelines for designing the squares. So, start coming up with ideas, peeps!

this might end up being quite a BIG project the more I think about it... do you think we will have enough time to organize everything and get it done in time?
