Jemaine's Birthday Fan-Video!

Oh hey guys! Who wants to be part of a birthday present for Jemaine? A few members and myself were brainstorming, and thought it would be cool to make a video as a present for Jemaine!

It's a video compilation, and would only take about 5 minutes to make on your part. The idea is each person holds up one word, written boldly on a piece of paper, and we collectively form a sentence or two depending on how many participate.

As an example, Flighty #1 is holding up a sign that reads: "
We"
, and she passes it to her left, to the point that it is off screen. Then the next shot would be Flighty #2 in a different location "
receiving"
the paper from her right, but now it reads "
Love"
, and then she passes it to her left like the first person. Then when the last Flighty takes it from her right, it now reads "
Jemaine!"
.

That is a short example of the idea for the video. Hopefully we get more that three people! It was inspired by this "
passing"
idea:

It can be shot with whatever you have. Any type of camera would work best, but if you only have a webcam or phone, those should work too. It would also make it even cooler if most people shot it somewhere outside, to give Jemaine some perspective on where you are in the world.

We will have more details on the video before then, but we need to know who will be definitely participating. It is crucial that anyone that agrees to make a video of themselves follows through. People can't back out in the middle of the process because everyone's word would already be final.

And to give a head's up, the deadline to send your video should be sometime in the middle of December.

For the most part, I will be managing and editing the compiled video. But I will be posting progress and multiple versions to get your input throughout late December. This is still a group effort and wouldn't be possible without you guys.

Yes! That would look amazing!

I thought about how we would decipher who gets what word- and I think it would be fair if it was completely random. I was going to use something like to figure the order of everyone in the video. Unless anyone else has another idea?

Yeah random sounds good to make it fair.
Either that or a free for all, where you post the sentence and we all reply with what word we want, best in best dressed. But that could get messy hehe.

I think, as it was your idea, you should get to choose what word you want to have though, even if we all draw a name out of a hat

I'd rather not have any possible cat fights and ripped out hair extensions. I'm good with random, unless there are other ideas.

Thanks, Jess! I may have been the one to suggest the idea for a video, but it was actually Jessica and Katie who thought of the passing idea, then it just spawned from there. So I don't want any privileges when it comes to the word-pickings. I'm down with the random.

If anyone gets to pick their word- I'd want it to be Ami.

i say full-on random is the best way to go with this;
it's the best way to ensure that the assignment process was absolutely fair.

After that, the group deadline for the sentence we will create is December 4th. A couple of days for a group free-for-all of suggestions should be good, right?? ( )


Then the deadline to send me the video I think will be December 14th. I figured sending via megaupload should work. If you plan to use a cellphone or a recording-device you haven't used yet to make a video, it may be a good idea to do a quick test to see how easy it will be to upload the video, and for me to download and use it.


And on a little side note- I think we are going to use "
