Don't be silly Every bodies discovery stories are so interesting to read. I like how a lot of us had heard of them but were pretty indifferent (are we all snobs? " title="" border="0"/>) until we actually sat down and watched them properly haha
I can't believe you watched ALL of the first season in 1 evening! Well, I can really haha. I couldn't because we didn't have the time to. We watched four or 5, then another in the morning before we left for home. Then they had to be watched sporadically throughout the weeks afterwards. I did however watch it all over a day when I introduced my friend Robyn to them!
And...you are a fellow huge Bowie fan!

Then, at the end of February, my Grandfather passed away and, on the same day, we bought Flight of the Conchords Season 1 on DVD. It was Scott's birthday that weekend and I was taking him away. My parents told me to stick to my plans before coming home to be with my family on the Monday. Whilst at the hotel, I was too upset to leave for a meal and couldn't go through with the plans I had made (resteraunt, cinema, usual nice date jaunts), as I was just too upset and scared to go outside what with being so far away from my family and not knowing how to deal with what had just happened.
Scott stuck on Flight of the Conchords to try and cheer me up.
I can honestly say, I will never ever ever be able to express how much they inadvertently did for me that weekend, and in the coming weeks. Within the first few moments (in fact, it was when Bret said to Jemaine, That's not triple figures"
) I was hooked and they alleviated any pain I was feeling.
They have the ability to lift my spirits no matter how down or upset or lonely I am feeling. Every time I hear their songs or watch their episodes everything seems to dissipate and all I do is laugh. And laugh, and laugh and laugh.
This story makes my heart swell. I'm going through this very thing right now. I live in Chicago, my family is in Georgia. On April 24, my grandfather passed. I flew home for his funeral, flew back on April 28 and was at the Conchords show that night. Though most of it is a complete and utter blur, I do remember being so thankful that I was there. It's amazing how much humor can heal. Those boys...they have the ability to cheer you up on even the darkest days!
For you! Thank you so, so much for sharing this.

I have literally no life at all, that's how I had time. I think I left school around five that day and I don't go to bed until at least eleven.
Sally, what part of GA does your family live in?

They live in a cluster of small towns about an hour and a half south of Atlanta. The Griffin area. Though, my grandparents reside in the big city of Molena!! WOO HOO! Nothing but dirt roads and cows as far as the eye can see.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandfather :'(
It is pretty amazing that the guys have the ability to heal in that way. And they probably don't even realise. I am so happy for you that you got to go and see them and at such a difficult time and that it helped you in that way. People didn't seem to understand why I latched onto them in the way I did - even though they understood their talent and humour.
They have ended up being my version of a security blanket, right when I needed one most.
Thank YOU for sharing

I have forgot about important University work and research because I have been distracted too many times by my need to watch them. I never thought Youtube would have such a debilitating impact on my life

Yeah, well... I never had homework or anything, it was cosmetology school. So I watched season one and read a book. Both at the same time.

To be perfectly honest, I fell hard for these guys back in December. There was a rough patch in my life, everything was unpleasant, it was the first time I'd turned on my mp3 player in three weeks, first song that comes on is flippin' Think About It. It was such a hilarious 'this shii's going down and you're sad why?' moment that I instantly felt better and then put on my Flight of the Conchords playlist. It was a good day after that.

awww It's like that with these guys. They are making the world feel better one song at a time and they don't even know it.
