The role: Murray, the eternally optimistic band manager of “Flight of the Conchords” (10 p.m. Sundays, HBO).

Where you’ve seen him before: “Yes Man” and, if you’re lucky, standup stages across New Zealand and Britain.

Why we love him: He’s a modern-day version of the Partridge Family’s Reuben Kincaid - except with two Dannys on his hands.

In his own words: As he told the Onion, “I thought, ‘People aren’t going to like my character, because he’s so different. If they’re really into these cool-looking idiots, they’re not going to like this other idiot who kind of gets in the way and is always uptight’ ... I guess because it’s the opposite side of the seesaw, it just fits in perfectly.”

Betcha didn’t know: He played Roger Federer’s coach in a Nike commercial. ...

[size=100:phxqjliw]Glamour girl Lara Bingle and Flight Of The Conchords comedian Rhys Darby will add looks and laughs to MTV's annual awards night this month.

Bingle, who rose to fame as the Aussie beach babe in the 2006 Tourism Australia campaign, will present an award at the 2009 MTV Australia Awards on March 27.

Representing New Zealand will be Darby, who plays hapless band manager Murray alongside Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement on the hit TV show Flight Of The Conchords.

Bingle and Darby join a growing list of names at the star-studded event, which includes host Pete Wentz and performers Jessica Mauboy, The Fray, The Killers, Sia and Kings of Leon via satellite.

The Hills star Audrina Patridge will host the arrivals, and UK band Kaiser Chiefs will provide the soundtrack, performing live on the red carpet.

The event will be broadcast on MTV Australia.
