Thanks! It is the real thing,the same bass as Jemaine's. It was made in The Soviet Union in the 1970s

Thanks! I bought it on ebay for $100 from a seller in Ukraine. It arrived in this bag.





I had to get a new nut and a new bridge but it turned out pretty good.

Thanks,this one is as close to Jemaine bass as I could find. The only differences are:

Mine has different knobs



a Hofner bridge



a new bone nut



one replaced tuner



Also mine has the the original russian 5-pin DIN jack.Jemaine changed his to standard.



I had to make a chord for it.

Actually, I've been wondering for quite a while how a shepherd from New Zealand could get this bass guitar produced in the USSR. What is more, he doesn't know what the Internet is and how it works so he couldn't buy it on eBay (NZ is still in the 70s ;
) )...

I'm a bass and guitar player and I was so tempted so many times with this auction on ebay.

I'm so glad it went to someone who obviously loves it so much - and to a Conchords fan.

It makes me feel better for not buying it now. I was also unsure about the beatupness of it from the ebay photos.

Thanks man! Wow,I wondered if anyone else was watching that auction. I knew I was taking a big chance but I have done stupider things than buying that bass.





Fortunately all the electronic worked,the neck is straight and the frets are ok,so all in all it is a very playable bass and it sounds good.

Also, the first (and only) time I've seen him perform was in NZ, yet I live an hour south of Austin.
