[size=100:0zjxibgk]It’s time again for Record Store Day (April 18), sometimes known as Record Store Day 2: The Reckoning. Last year we gave out free CD samplers of our astoundingly good bands, but this year we are doing something even better—SELLING stuff by our astoundingly good bands, but only in record stores, not even here on subpop.com.

[size=133:0zjxibgk]We’re doing four limited-edition 7” singles with unreleased material by Flight of the Conchords (‘Pencils in the Wind’/’Albi the Racist Dragon’), Obits (‘I Can’t Lose/’Military Madness’), Vetiver (‘Wishing Well’/’Pay No Mind’), and Blitzen Trapper (‘War is Placebo’/’Booksmart Baby’). COLLECTOR NERD STATS: All of these are limited to 1500 copies, except Flight of the Conchords which is limited to 3000, but they’re on TV so….

We’re also releasing an 18-track live set from Iron & Wine’s Woman King tour in 2005, but this one’s on CD with extra cute packaging to make it look like a tiny 45. Adorable, and limited to 5000.

I've been eagerly awaiting the announcement about the 7"
since I posted that little snippet of news a while back.

If anyone happens to see this in the wild, and would like to pick me up a copy, I would be so, so grateful.

With only 3000 released, I may not be lucky. Sad

I would pay you straight away and pay postage. If it happens to be a Denver/SLC trip person - I can always pay and then get it from you then.

Two of the participating record stores are within 20 miles of my apartment. I'm definitely planning on going out that day to track down a copy, so if everything works out I'd be happy to grab one for you as well. I don't want to make promises, as I don't know for sure which stores will be getting them and/or how many copies they'll have on hand, but I'll see what I can do. I think I'll contact both shops this week and find out a) if they'll be getting this particular vinyl and b) if there's any way to reserve copies.

I'm bummed that it's coming out right after I see the guys though. My husband won't be nearly as understanding about my need to have a new Conchords vinyl RIGHT THIS SECOND when I've just been on a weekend-long trip to see them in person and spent plenty of money while I was at it. :-/

If one of you / all of you could have a go at getting one for me - I would be so grateful.

With only 3,000 released, it might be worth having a few backup plans. Also, the limited stock probably means you could easily resell a spare copy if anyone ends up with duplicates.

I'm going to call ahead, but most likely I'll go to one in the hood somewhere for a better chance of getting it.

oooo! this is so exciting!!!

i'm so happy i'll be able to listen to the album before their tour - their last album was the soundtrack to my summer [image]

If they gave copies to every store that's participating (including the international shops), it averages out to about 3 copies per store. Hopefully everybody who's planning on going out for it can find at least one at their local shop. [image]

OK, cool. Good to know! I feel much better about my chances of getting one now. I'll also try to pick up an extra copy or two in case anyone needs one.

April 18th is also the day of the Philly show. It's shaping up to be a very good day for me.
