As much as I love George Carlin (and I EFFING ADORE George Carlin), I hope FotC wins. Carlin was a genius, but I've never cared for awards given posthumously. When I'm gone, awards won't matter anymore, and I suspect Carlin would have felt the same way (R.I.P, Beloved Mr. Carlin).

ITA. However, I'm not a Grammy voter.

I'd love to see them win, but I think winning last year for The Distant Future may hurt them. Business Time and Robots are repeats, plus you have the George Carlin factor. Regardless of all that, I think it's a brilliant record (which I still listen to parts on an almost daily basis) and does to deserve to win. Good luck guys!

ETA: Most Beautiful Girl in the Room is on both albums too. Granted it's live versus studio recorded.. but still.

I thought they had it in the bag too until I saw the Carlin nomination. I know nothing of the guy except that he was a comedy legend. I'm sure he'll get the win.

There are only like a bajillion freaking Grammy categories, and I think Comedy Album isn't shown during the telecast. You might catch it on the screen as they cut to commercial, or just watch for news of it online.
Personally, if the Grammys want to be more awesome (they need to at least try), they should maybe get some of the comedy album nominees to perform on the show. Sure, technically not all of the comedy acts are music (so why did they invent this category again?), but Conchords are both funny and an actual music act. And not bad to look at either, eh? ;
)

I'm rooting for the Conchords too of course (Lewis Black? bleh. Kathy Griffin? from what I've seen of her, all of her shtick is the same), but I'm guessing Carlin will get it.

According to the official Grammy site, the Pre-Telecast awards will be streaming live (4pm U.S. Eastern time) here:



They also give the order in which the categories will be presented - Comedy Album is scheduled to be presented 30th out of 100 awards.

If my time zone calculations are correct, I should be awake to see this.

I will be tuning in. Nice of them to give us a schedule so we can count down to their category.
